Many web page authors do not hesitate to place the fully qualified email addresses on a web site and feel very confortable about doing so.... for about 3 to six months
anyway. Then they (or the people they have tried to help by placing their email addresses on those pages) start receiving the dreaded junk email... a little at first... but about 8 months later, they have more junk
email than productive (wanted) email at a ratio of about 10 or more to 1.
Fact: Web Robots (web bots) scan web pages while you sleep. They extract any and all information usable for profit. Yes, it is
quite disturbing to know that you cannot even consider your web pages safe... but that is becoming a fact of life on Internet 1 now days. It is no longer a Happy Communication Community but rather the
almighty dollar.Recommandation: Continue to do what you are doing but alter how you do it.... or at least until the Web Bots become intelligent enough to recognize (willing to scan) for more than one
character to determine if they have an email address. Below you will see an example of web browser character combinations that are not recognized by Web Bots.
Instead of using Use This
Because
ike@talkfilm.com ike@talkfilm.com @ = "@" sign
. = "." (period)
The above example is the most efficient way of keeping your web based email addresses (and their intended recipients) out of harms way of web bots (without investing in Anti-SPAM software). The
. (period) is not really required as Web Bot email collection only keys on the at "@" sign. |
