. Would it be possible say to have our present website for all posts within 12 months
and another that included the archived posts since day one? How hard would it be each new month to transfer all posts from 13 to 12 months ago to the archived site??? 1) We have tried to get to the messages to archive them. Wanted to place them on CD so those in the group could have them for historical value. We have found no way to
download the messages other than individually to perform
a New, Copy, Paste, SaveAs over and over again for each message... 2) We have also been downloading pictures to place on the Group's Web Site. You may have already seen several member's pages. Lately I have been eaten alive at work and not been able
to dedicate time to work on them as much as I would like. We have more pictures to post and will get to them just as fast as we can. 3) We have also tried to find a way to replace the pictures posted in messages with
a link to them on the Group's Web Site. That is not
possible either. The only thing we can do is DELETE the
message. The moderators of the group have discussed this on more than one occasion. We do not want to remove any of the messages posted.
4) Please understand, Utapao.org is not intended to replace our UTapao Alumni site. It can perform the same functions as the U-Tapao Alumni site but Utapao.org does not
have the bells and whistles our current hosting facility (Yahoo) has to offer. Utapao.org was brought on line to post member's pictures of Utapao and Southeast Asia and reduce the space used on the U-Tapao Alumni site for member messages. We have had members send patches and a few pictures which have been posted. The
member's section is being built by reading Utapao Alumni messages and extracting pictures member's have sent with those messages. If they are publishable on Utapao.org, they will be on a web page as soon as I can get time to resize (reduce the number of bytes each
picture occupies) and build web page(s) for them.Recommendation(s): 1) Do not send picture attachments in messages to the Utapao Alumni. Post them in the Utapao Alumni Pictures Folder if there is room and then post a message with a link to the
picture. This serves several purposes: a) The picture is posted where it can be viewed by members.
b) It is much easier to pick up (download) for the Utapao.org website. c) The message posted is small because it contains a link and not a picture.
d) Utapao Alumni Pictures can be replaced with a link to the utapao.org web page(s). without disturbing the message posted
e) Photos space does not reflect message space used. WE SAVE UTAPAO ALUMNI MESSAGE SPACE.
There's 89% used (~3+mb of free space) in the Photos Folder as of this writing.2) When you reply to a post, delete all but the sender's name and message text you are responding to. Place a
series of periods before and after as needed to illustrate there was message text before and/or after the sentence(s) you wish to address. By all means delete the Utapao Alumni trailer information at the bottom of the
message you are sending also. 3) Remove those Stupid Ads in the email you are responding to. They only get propogated in your response and are the first thing Web Only readers see when they click on the
message. Then they have to Click Here To Continue To Read The Message to get past it. They may show up in the receiver's email as a link.... Delete it. Each and every member who posts can help with the
space issue. We as moderators of the Utapao Alumni can only make recommendations and try to help retain space by putting member's photos on the website. After that, we see no alternative other than letting the 1st
messages start disappearing as each new message is posted. Regards, The Utapao Alumni Moderators
